Sex Therapy

Expert, Compassionate Sex Therapy
Sexual health is an essential part of overall well-being, yet it remains one of the most difficult topics for people to discuss openly — even with a therapist. As an AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist and Supervisor, and Co-Director of the Program in Human Sexuality at NYU Langone Medical Center, I bring a level of specialized training and clinical expertise that sets my practice apart. I have spent over thirty years helping individuals and couples in New York City navigate the full range of sexual concerns with confidence, sensitivity, and without judgment.
Sex therapy is talk therapy. It takes place in my office and involves open, guided conversation about your concerns. At times, I may prescribe specific exercises for you or your partner to practice privately at home. The goal is to help you understand the emotional, psychological, and relational factors affecting your sexual life — and to develop practical strategies for change. I work with concerns including lack of desire, arousal difficulties, difficulty achieving orgasm, sexual pain, vaginismus, erectile and ejaculatory dysfunction, sexual compulsions, challenges related to coming out and sexual identity, and problems resulting from sexual trauma or abuse.
What distinguishes an AASECT-certified sex therapist from a general therapist? AASECT (the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists) requires rigorous advanced training in human sexuality beyond what is covered in standard clinical programs. This means I am equipped to address sexual concerns directly and knowledgeably, rather than treating them as secondary to other issues. My dual role as a Clinical Instructor at NYU School of Medicine further deepens my understanding of the medical and psychological dimensions of sexual health.
Whether you are an individual seeking to understand your own sexuality more fully, or a couple looking to reconnect intimately, sex therapy can help. I work with adults of any age, gender, and sexual orientation. If you have questions, my sex therapy FAQ page offers additional information, or you are welcome to contact me directly to schedule a consultation at my Upper East Side practice.
